Advance to Work
Following the completion of the work experience we then seek full time employment for each applicant.
Applicants first attend interviews with us where we ascertain their desired fields of interest before we begin actively seeking companies that may be able to offer work that satisfy these interests. We currently have a number of young men who are eager to learn and then gain employment in the electrical trades so we are always looking to broaden our employer contacts. I am therefore enquiring as to whether you may entertain the idea of offering a short placement within your company.
Many employers (such as Marret floorcraft, Future Finance, Laid flooring, Low and Co, The Plumbing Company, Eastern Joinery etc) have used the scheme as a facilitator for an unpaid probationary period whereby they enrol with us in order to try out a potential employee for a month or so at no cost to their company. We feel that what the scheme can offer companies in this respect; where employers can sample a potential apprentice before commiting to a paid contract, is particularly valuable for the vocational trades.
There are already 130 applicants registered with Advance to Work, 75 of which have already been assigned to posts with 25 graduates now in full time employment, with the others still awaiting a placement. The tools used to place applicants through this scheme are very simple ensuring that contracts, Health and Safety guidelines and insurance issues are not a burden to companies registered with Advance to Work.
Should you wish to chat further or meet up to discuss the scheme, please contact me as of below.
